Welcome
care4ucreations is a brand new charity project in Northumberland County providing an avenue for knitters and crocheters to donate their handmade clothing, etc. to agencies and organizations who work with clients in need.
We love to knit and crochet and we know that there are many of you who also love to create a wide range of hand-made clothing and other items.
“Caring” is a key word in this project. Although we enjoy creating items for family and friends, we also want to do our part, no matter how small, in helping those in our community who are in need . . . in need of comfort, warmth, support or a little TLC. The generosity of people in Northumberland County is outstanding and yet there is always more that can be done. Being aware of ways individuals can help, other than giving money, is sometimes all that is needed for more people to come forward and do their part.
As public health nurses, we are well aware that there are many families, children, teens, adults and seniors throughout Northumberland County who are in need. Over the past several months, we have been assessing this need to see how local knitters and crocheters, who would like to donate their finished, hand-made clothing, etc., can help. Mitts, hats, scarves, lap blankets and comfort shawls are just a few of the key items that could help meet the needs of others.
And so . . . care4ucreations.ca was formed. Our goals are simple.
- To recruit, network and support knitters and crocheters who wish to create and donate hand-made clothing and other items.
- To set up "drop-off" locations in various towns and villages throughout Northumberland County for donations of finished items, as well as yarn and other knitting/crocheting supplies.
- To network with representatives of local daycares, nursing homes, shelters, support agencies, etc. in order to determine needs of their clients and residents that could be met through donations of hand-made knit and crochet items.
- To arrange for donated items to be delivered to local agencies and organizations and given as "gifts" to clients and residents.
If you are a knitter and/or crocheter who would like to create and donate your hand-made clothing and other items.
If you would like to donate yarn and other knitting/crochet supplies.
If you would like to volunteer your time to help sort, catalogue and deliver donated items.
We invite you to join us in being a part of care4ucreations.ca.
Thank you for caring
Sincerely,
Janet Leadbeater & Shelley White
